Why Is Anal Bleaching such a Joke?

I have seen this over and over in various articles on the internet, Anal Bleaching is referred to again and again as the butt of a joke.

As you can see in this article, Anal Bleaching is used in a comparison to watching some American Idol program.

Here is an excerpt for people who don’t want to visit the site:

Raise your hand if you’d rather have anal bleaching than watch this pitiful parade of Idol idiocracy play out any longer.

Whilst I definitely agree that American Idol is a shocking program to watch, why compare it to Anal Bleaching?

I am with you on this one. I do not understand why it is so hard to believe. There are so many more stranger things that people do. Why pick on anal bleaching so much?!
